Idle Nook Horse Camp LLC is owned and operated by Jack and Mitzie Stevens.  Many of you out there know us and have ridden with us.  We like to have fun and love being around all our horseback friends!  We bought the property back in fall of 2008 and it had 4 hookups.  We had friends up in late October and decided we needed to add  more spots, so with much help from family and friends that's what we did.  We know have 22 spots with electric and water hookups.  We have 1 bunkhouse with 2 twin beds and 2 shower houses.  We also have a karaoke stage available for the nightly entertainment!

We have done a lot of work finding new trails during the winter.  They are not marked as well as we'd like yet, but hopefully by fall they will be and we'll have printed maps with color-coated trails!  We like woods riding the best so that's what we're trying to add the most.  There are mountain views, abandoned silver mines, beautiful rock formations, plenty of creek crossings and miles and miles of endless riding.  Rides can range from a short one hour ride to a day full of riding!  The Ouachita National Forest is absolutely beautiful.

Since we both have full time jobs this camp is run a little differently than most.  There will not be someone running the camp at all times. It's more of an "on your own" type camp.  It's a very laid back atmosphere.  When not in use, we do keep the gates locked, so that's why we need you to call ahead and make reservations before coming to ride.  Also, we'd hate to be booked and not have room for you when you get here!

From the campground you have a view of Buck Knob Mountain on one side and more mountain ranges on the other side. We fell in love with the campground the first time we saw it.   There is a huge forest service pond that borders our property for those that want to throw a hook in!

For dining, nearby Y-City has restaurants as well as a convenience store for any needs. Mena and Mount Ida are about 30 minutes away.  Fort  Smith is an hour away! There are plenty of activities around the area.  Lake Ouachita, the Ouachita River for floating or kayaking!  The Ouachita Trail is nearby for hikers!
